Summary of GPP Core Pack Tutorial Content

Written by a professional guitar teacher the course is divided into three phases as follows;

Phase 1

This is the start of the course and is ideal for beginners, or can be used as a 'refresher' for players at any level.

Warm up, routines to start all sessions.

Scales, such as one octave major and minor pentatonic based around open and movable positions.

Chords, open position of many types including major 7 and minor 7. First barre chords including diminished.

Arpeggios
, An Introduction including major, minor and diminished in all positions.

Rhythm Playing, establishing correct feel for timing with some straight forward time signatures and rhythm playing techniques.

Theory, an introduction to harmony and chord construction, application of the theory and the starting blocks for developing compositional skills (song writing).

Ear Training, identifying by ear all common intervals. This helps develop the ability to 'work out' your favorite songs.

Technical Development, an area often overlooked by players. This introduction may even prove tricky for seasoned players
if they are not used to this type of practice.

Phase 2

A comprehensive part of the program and providing long term developing for all players.

Scales, in all positions including, major and minor pentatonic, the major scale and all modes in all 7 positions.
The blues scale in all positions.

Chords, stage two of development. Including Maj 7, min7 ,7, and m7b5 chords.

Arpeggios, extended and in every position, to get inside chord tones to apply in guitar solos.

Rhythm Playing, covering some tricky chord charts using a mix of the chords and more compound time signatures.

Theory, learn how to make chords and understand more complex uses of the chords already learnt.

Ear Training, identify chromatic intervals.

Technical Development, steps up a level and introduces some effective uses of sequencing.

Phase 3

Is ideal for any seasoned player wanting to further their ability and will aid any guitar student studying for examination at any level. The course would take most players approximately 10 years to understand and play. It is designed to be a continuing part of on going development.

Scales, a large selection of advanced scales including Harmonic minor (and all 7 modes) Melodic minor (and all 7 modes),
Whole-tone and diminished.

Chords, more complex sounding chords such as major 13 and major 6/9.

Arpeggios, extended arpeggios to cover more complex voicings.

Rhythm Playing, more complex and including chords learnt from phases 2 and 3.

Theory, including a harmony chart of all material covered to date. Absolutely essential for all players.

Ear training, focusing on all chords and scales contained in the three phases.

Technical Development, extends to include all scales.
